A Place For Food & Culture
The station complex is primarily a site of historical importance. The buildings of the station were carefully preserved, including the components of the material, the form and facilities accompanying it, such as railroad cars and tracks, in accordance with the Ministry of the Interior’s preservation guidelines, and according to all accepted conservation principles. The preservation accurately reconstructs the splendor of the buildings and the period.
The railway station was designed according to a prototype of the railway stations built by the Ottoman authorities at the time. The station was built according to a typical plan of a traditional stone structure in the style of combined construction, both in stylistic / architectural language and in terms of construction technique. The preservation and rehabilitation of the complex allows the buildings to speak for themselves and to tell, without words, in an experiential and moving way, the story of the place, which makes the station not only a final station but also a central exit station for trips in Jerusalem in the Old City, Yemin Moshe.
